So, now, there are two famous circus shows that may have captured your attention: Shrine Circus and Ringling Brothers. Since both are very popular across the United States, which one between these two that you should choose? Get to know better about Shrine Circus and Ringling Brothers by continue reading below!
Shrine Circus is a circus that was founded in the United States in 1906. Shrine Circus is affiliated with the Shriners International, formerly the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. It is one of the most active circus shows in the country, as it travels to about 120 cities each year in the United States alone. In addition, there is also a separate unit that travels to about 40 cities in Canada. Its first circus show was held in Detroit, Michigan, and there is a state historical marker there that proclaims Shrine Circus contribution to the overall circus history. Shrine Circus was initially just a one-ring affair, but it has grown to three rings since a long time ago. Even though Shrine Circus is traveling to many cities, the Detroit affair is still the largest one. So, if you want to watch the ultimate performance of Shrine Circus, make sure that you visit that one Detroit affair! So far, Shrine Circus is still going on a tour, although the entertainment industry has become tough for many circus shows.
On the other hand, Ringling Brothers, or also known as Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows, is a US traveling circus company that is billed as The Greatest Show on Earth. It was started in 1919. It has gone through a very long history, and is certainly one of the most well-known circus shows. There are even two films that are based on the Ringling Brothers’ history; one was released in 1952 whereas the other is set for release in 2017’s Christmas, featuring various notable actors. However, Ringling Brothers has stopped using elephants since May 2016 to follow local laws. In addition, Ringling Brothers is, unfortunately, going to retire this year. The two circus units are going to conclude their tours with the final shows on May 7, 2017, at Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, R.I., and on May 21, 2017, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.
