So take anyone’s recommendation with a grain of salt. But here’s the lay of the land :
Canyons or gorge is a deep cleft between escarpments or cliffs resulting from weathering and the erosive activity of a river over geologic timescales. Rivers have a natural tendency to cut through underlying surfaces, eventually wearing away rock layers as sediments are removed downstream. Canyons Resort Utah has been known under plenty of other guises in former years such as “Park City West”, “Park West” and “The Canyons”. The Canyons bring up unparalleled playland for skiers and riders of all levels, where learners can take their runs in the learning park while the pros thrill to hit some of Utah’s most challenging rails and jumps. We think they are both great hills. As far as lifts go, Park city is awesome. It seems like everywhere you go there is a high speed six pack. However, as far as terrain goes, we think Canyon’s gets the nod. Canyons has far superior glade skiing, especially off of Saddleback and Peak 5, and for steeps the 9990 lift has better lift serviced steeps than anything at Park City. If you are willing to hike a little bit from the lifts at PC there is some good stuff too. If you are looking for cruisers, both mountains are great but you can see the canyons a small nod here, try the double blue run called cloud 9. So far, the Canyons is just much bigger and has a little more to offer for everyone. The one thing Park city definitely has which is better is its terrain parks
